Sri Lanka's tourism industry with its enormous potential is propelling the nation as the “Wonder of Asia”. Developing the nation as an ‘educational hub' is one of the strategies in achieving this goal. The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) which is the premier national organization established by the Government to provide professionally trained manpower for the tourism and hospitality industry is fully equipped to meet this challenge.

In keeping with the theme “Excellence in Hospitality” we are fully committed to improve the manpower standards required by the industry, providing the necessary educational and training programmes. Thus developing a path, for Sri Lankan hospitality, to achieve global heights.

All programmes we conduct are aimed at meeting the challenges and demands of the manpower requirement for the tourism sector at both national and international levels. Facilitating innovative learning methods such as M-Learning and E-Learning effectively increases the reach of our educational programmes to all sections of the industry.

Further development of the rapport the Institute enjoys with the hospitality industry serves to create and expand productive training opportunities for our students. The SLITHM's extensive training resources also includes the fully functional Hotel Samudra, Colombo, owned and operated by the Institute, which provides students the opportunity to receive hands-on training.

In keeping with the philosophy that building capacity and nurturing talent will make a lasting impact on the socio-economic development of the country, all training programmes at SLITHM have a strong focus on quality, recognition, and student confidence. National and international recognition of our programmes have paved the way for our graduates to pursue further education and career development at world renowned universities and institutes.

SLITHM serves a section of Sri Lankan society which has immense potential to contribute towards the country's future development. The Institute grants fair opportunities for all through a reasonable fee structure subsidized by the Government. The presence of Provincial Colleges provides education and training for our rural youth.

Today, SLITHM stands at the forefront of Sri Lanka's tourism industry being the premier national institute for manpower development for the Hospitality industry.
