Hotel House Keeping

 

Housekeeping is one of the most important parts of the guest experience and its impact on the success of a hotel cannot be underestimated. The quality of the housekeeping staff’s work and the operation is crucial in shaping a guest’s memories of their stay and cleanliness and presentation of rooms in addition to Housekeeping’s ability to meet high demands plays a key role in guest satisfaction and the generation of repeat guests.

In order to mold the students to meet the industry standards of Hotel Housekeeping, SLITHM offers courses at Craft level, Certificate and Intermediate level housekeeping to train students with the required practical knowledge and skills to take up employment in the hospitality industry locally and abroad presenting a systematic approach to managing housekeeping operations and providing a thorough overview, from the big picture of maintaining a quality staff, planning, and organizing, to the technical details of cleaning each area of a hospitality facility.

Front Office Management

 

The Front Office in a hotel is considered as the nerve centre and would typically consist of the lobby, reception, concierge, bell desk, cashier in a large scale hotel where the front office processes include reservations, room allocation, guest registration, check-in, guest requirement and guest tracking, meal plan report generation, cancellation of reservations and no show, check out. Being the most visible part the front office creates the first impression of the hotel and sets the tone for the guest’s stay.

The Front Office management courses at SLITHM are designed to provide students with sound technical and social skills to enable them to perform Hotel front office operations. Diploma in Hospitality Management

 

The Diploma in hospitality management offered by SLITHM is a three year programme spreading across six semesters. This diploma focuses on both hospitality and hotel management training which upon successful completion, will help you find employment in the hotel industry locally as well as internationally. Qualifications are increasingly sought after in the hospitality and tourism industry and this diploma will put you on the fast-track to a career in junior management level job in the hospitality industry with a view of developing further through higher level educational programmes.

Key Features –

  -   You will train in the front office, restaurant, bar and kitchen of a working hotel
  -   Your diploma includes service training for 6 months after completion of 4 semesters
  -   You can specialise in a growth area of hopitality management - students have the option of one elective in either;

Landscaping
Interior designing
Web designing

  -   During your diploma you will also learn a foreign language other than English and develop personal and professional skills together with a sound education in IT, Marketing, Law, Economics, Accounting, Industrial relations, and Human Resources Management which are essential in the highly challenging hospitality industry.

This one year, part-time diploma programme provides the skills and knowledge for students to be competent in a broad range of managerial skills in tourism operations, travel and tourism marketing and product planning and development preparing them to meet the challenges of the ever changing tourism industry. The qualification allows for multi-skilling related to tourism and travel industry.

 

Job roles
Individuals with this qualification are able to work in any sector of the tourism industry as a junior manager, manager or owner–operator of any style of small tourism business.
