Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) Jaffna Training Center was established in October 2018, marking another cornerstone on SLITHM history. The main aim of establishing this training center is to counter the manpower shortage of well-trained tourism and hospitality industry personnel in the northern region. This move has enabled youth in the northern region to take up lucrative jobs in the hospitality industry. A number of hotels and resorts have opened up in the northern region of Sri Lanka and the skilled manpower shortage will be addressed by the opening of this facility.
SLITHM Jaffna branch is planning to conduct courses in hotel front office, food and beverage, professional cookery, hotel housekeeping, pastry and bakery, National Tourist Guide courses and language courses. These course programs will be conducted by well-experienced professionals.
SLITHM Jaffna at No - 450, Main Street, Chundikuli, Jaffna, has already commenced academic operations with a Hospitality Apprenticeship Course (Food and Beverage, Housekeeping and Front Office) aimed at attracting unemployed youth to the tourism industry. The present temporary facility will make way for a fully-fledged hotel school that is to open in January 2018.

It is with pride and great pleasure that I serve as the principal of the Jaffna branch of Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM). On behalf of the management board, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to the immense success of the company since the beginning of our journey.
Expanding the network of SLITHM to cater to the tourism and hospitality industry of the country, SLITHM Jaffna branch was established ceremoniously in October 2018. The tourism and Hospitality industry is widely flourishing in the northern region after the end of the 30 years of the civil war of Sri Lanka. Numerous star-class hotels and restaurants are opened to cater to the local and international tourists who explore the northern part of the island.
SLITHM Jaffna branch is committed to developing the tourism and hospitality industry further through course programs that are fine-tuned to meet the specific industry requirements. A wide range of courses including hotel front office, food and beverage, professional cookery, hotel housekeeping, pastry and bakery, National Tourist Guide courses and language courses are offered by SLITHM Jaffna branch to make sure that every student’s interests are fulfilled.
