The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) Ratnapura provincial college is the leading Hospitality, Travel & Tourism College located in the Sabaragamuwa Province. This provincial college was established in August 2010. It is located in the new town, Ratnapura and provides easy access from other cities in the province.
SLITHM Ratnapura focuses on the programmes for front line hotel operational knowledge, skills for the young male and female in the province, further to the tourism industry and refresher courses geared towards the changing global hospitality environment.
At present SLITHM Ratnapura is capable of accommodating around 250 students at a time for the Craft and Certificate Level courses in Professional Cookery, Hotel Reception, Restaurant & Bar Service and Hotel Housekeeping.
Cater for the different other sectors in the province by training their staff in various needs through tailored made programms. The massive impact from the 13 years guaranteed education programme for the hospitality sector from government schools.
The facilities offered include a fully equipped training kitchen, training restaurant, mock-up rooms, a language centre and computer lab with internet and e-mail facilities, a library and tourism information kiosk creating a centre of excellence for the hospitality industry in Ratnapura.

Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Ratnapura has completed more than ten years of successful performance and made an immense contribution to the hospitality industry of Sri Lanka. The tourism and hospitality sector being identified as one of the key sectors to propel the economic growth in the country, Ratnapura campus has provided professional training to youth who have entered the tourism and hospitality industry and doing quite well with many in leading jobs as responsible human beings. Our primary visions is to prepare the youth in the Sabaragamuwa area in order to obtain rewarding opportunities in the Hotel and tourism industry by providing quality and industry-oriented education.
Most of them are from rural areas with minimum qualifications and have walked into the path of professionalism with out well-recognized industry qualifications. Our contribution to the nation will reap the benefits with time to be the leaders of Tourism in the national and global platform.
The present pandemic has made an impact on our institution which was unavoidable. During this period the students, as well as academic and non-academic staff, leaped forward in spite of reservations to play their role.
